Colorado Springs Supports ABH!

1 Sep

A huge thank you to all the gracious and giving folks that attended the “Grand Opening Celebration and Baby Shower” for Aggie’s Baby Home – in Colorado Springs last night, August 31, 2010.

Last year, dozens of hand-made PRAYER blankets and other items were sent to ABH.  Once again, these compassionate friends send their love to the children of Africa:  Agnes will be going home with more beautiful hand-made scarves  as well as new and used clothing for the kids at New Hope  and ABH.  Of course much needed diapers and formula were also generously donated!

After discussing how the baby home does not currently have some basic furnishings such as a carpeting in the toy room, a kitchen table and chairs, adult chairs or lamps, the money raised at this event will be used to purchase these items.  It is our sincere desire to bless the hard working full-time (24/7) mother/workers with a place to sit and relax while caring for the children at ABH.

Thank you!

Denver Baby Shower Success

Thank you to the many new and old friends of Aggie’s Baby Home that came to our special “Baby Shower and Grand-Opening”  event held last Friday, August 27th in Centennial, Colorado.  Over 20 cans of much needed baby formula, dozens and dozens of cloth diapers, rubber pants, and new clothing were all generously donated.  Another friend brought used prescription sun and regular glasses for those in need at ABH or New Hope Orphanage as well as other various items – all of which are much appreciated.

In addition to these amazing donations, close to $1400 in one-time donations was raised.  This money will go towards our general fund that is primarily used finish the building projects and furnishing of ABH or where needed.  We also had several MUCH NEEDED new monthly pledges towards our GOAL  of $3,000 (full-house goal for 25 babies/staff).

It was another “God-thing” to witness what the Lord did that night on behalf of the least of these. Our humble thanks to everyone!

#1 Carol’s mother abandoned her when she was just 9 months old,
leaving her with her drunkard father (her parents were not married).
It wasn’t long before the local village people noticed that the
baby was left alone by the father in the home all day while he
went to the bar.  The authorities removed the baby girl from the
home and the father has relinquished all of his parental rights.
Carol was about one year old when brought to ABH in May 2010.
Malnourished and in need of urgent medical care when she came to
ABH, Carol is now thriving and happy!

ABH 062010-03 Bruce

#2 Bruce – Found on the roadside badly bruised and with cuts all over his body, this abandoned little toddler (approximately one year old) was taken to the police by a good Samaritan  in July of 2010.  He was given a new home and a new name – Bruce (after Pastor Bruce of Torchgrab Ministries).

Richard – Boy, Approx. 4 mos. (July 2010)

ABH 062010-03 Richard

#3 Richard – Sadly, this little boy was found next to his deceased mother on the roadside in Kampala.  Without any papers or other leads as to who they both were, it was impossible for the police to track down any known relatives.  He was approximately 2-4 months old when he was rescued in July of 2010 and brought to ABH by the authorities.

Suzan – Girl, Approx. 6 mos. (July 2010)

suzant

#4 Suzan – 6 month old Suzan’s mother had been abandoned by her husband and soon afterwards she was homeless, jobless and unable to care for her baby.  Fighting off rape and nearly being beaten to death while on the streets: mother and child were soon struggling to live. After finding temporary refuge in outdoor pit-latrines, Suzan’s mother finally turned to a large church in Kampala for help.  Sent to ABH for help, the mother begged Agnes to care for her baby .  Suzan now has a safe and loving home.

Innocent – Approx. 2 mos. (8/2010)

INNOCENT WITH RUTH

#5 Innocent!  He received his special new name after arriving at ABH in August of 2010. He was abandoned after being left in the hands of a stranger after his mother (presumably) asked for help while she went to the restroom.  Sadly, his mother never came back for him and in an instant, two month old Innocent was abandoned and homeless.

Hope – Girl, approx. 1 yr. (8/2010)

Hope with ABHome Mother

#6 Hope is approximately one year old.  This precious little girl was found on the railroad tracks by a passerby – soaked to the bone, naked, alone and barely able to stand by her own strength. Based on her physical condition upon arrival at ABH in August 2010, little Hope was severely malnourished and sick.  Now she is receiving proper medical care, nutritious food and love from the caring staff at ABH.  Praise the Lord for her life and future plans.

Jimmy – Boy, Approx. 1.5 years (8/2010)

#7 Jimmy – Found abandoned near a water pump on 08/22/2010,
efforts were made by the local council officials to trace
the parent(s) or relatives of this baby to no avail.
He was taken to the police station and later to the probation
and social welfare office.  ABH was asked to take care of
this baby.  He approximately 1.5 years of age.
He was given a new name – Jimmy after a special friend and
generous supporter in the U.S.

Here’s Paula

Introducing our newest addition: Paula. She is 5 months old and was recently left on a veranda during the night. The kind couple who took her in, kept her safe for three days before asking the police to help locate her parents. She was then brought to Aggie’s Baby Home where she is now being cared for…with YOUR help
