Electricity!

26 Mar

Last year a generous family from California, provided the funds for electricity to be bought to ABH.  Due to red-tape and other delay’s though, it wasn’t until February 2011 that the local electric company in Uganda finally completed this important project.  Since opening our doors to our first baby last June (2010) until now; the baby home has been without electricity.  Unimaginable to those of us from the “west” but the staff, babies and guests at ABH never complained and everyone functioned just fine without it.

Now that the night-time feedings won’t require a candle or gas lantern-we can all breathe a little easier.  The children’s safety is of the up most importance.   Now, just the flip of a switch is all it takes to get light, store food properly and provide other vital resources.  There will certainly be a learning curve, but we are sure that this modern convenience will soon be seen as a “mother’s” best-friend.

New Incinerator at ABH!

26 Mar

Once again, God proves that His ways are higher than our ways and His plans are better than ours! A recent graduate of Moody Bible College living in Uganda contacted us in January to see if he could volunteer at Aggie’s Baby Home.  Of course we welcomed the idea and have provided him with a to-do list.  Since that time, our new friend Zach, his wife and his wife’s family have provided a labor of love by building

a new incinerator at the baby home.

An anonymous church, back in the U.S. provided the funds to build the incinerator.  The incinerator is just another example of how God uses all kinds of people to provide for HIS orphans.    These wonderful volunteers also painted some out-buildings, helping to make the baby home look clean and well-cared for.  There are still many other building projects to complete, but we are getting there quicker than anyone imagined just 2 years ago.  Thank you friends of the orphans!

Pre-K Class Donates 75 Pounds of Baby Formula!

16 Mar

March 2011 – Update:  Raised $1,000 for outdoor playground equipment – outstanding!!

February 2011:  Recently, a family that is adopting from Aggie’s Baby Home ran a fund-raiser at their child’s pre-k class.  Amazingly, the whole class jumped on-board and they collected over 75 pounds of baby formula, some diapers and $300 cash to go towards one of next big projects at ABH- a much needed children’s outdoor play area.  Their goal is to raise at least another $700!   It will all be delivered when the family adopting from ABH, travel to Uganda to finalize their adoption and bring home their precious new addition.

A giant thank you goes out to the children in this special Pre-K class!  And, praise be to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ  for His faithfulness.  It is pure joy to serve Him together with you!!

Celebrate with us! First Baby Goes Home with New Forever Family!

14 Mar

Less then one year after our first baby was brought to Aggie’s Baby Home; one of our sweet baby girls was recently adopted and brought to her new home to the United States.  This is a miracle and we are celebrating at all the Lord has done and continues to do in and through ABH.  Who knew that less then two years after the Director of the baby home came to Colorado with a plea for help, that we would have been this far in the process of rescuing abandoned and orphaned babies in Uganda?

Many of our thirteen remaining children are already thankfully paired with other Forever Families but the good news is, as we go forward, and these children go “home”,  others are sure to soon fill the empty beds.

Thank you again for your prayers, financial support and continued interest in this small but important ministry in Uganda.

Aggie’s Baby Home get’s a new Gazebo!

30 Jan

Aggie’s Baby Home just keeps getting better…now the children and staff at the baby home have a lovely gazebo on the property to play in – away from the hot African sun!  It’s sure to be a favorite place for everyone.  The large circular, grass-roofed hut is located down the hill from the baby home overlooking the beautiful tropical forest of the area surrounding the baby home.

Newsletter January 2011

10 Jan

Dear Friends,
The New Year at ABH will be like Christmas for the babies, with many of the items that have been generously donated recently, being hand-delivered to the baby home by Paula and Richard M.. Featured below are just a few of the blessings about which, together, we can all rejoice! There is always more work to be done and grace to accomplish it; but please know that we could NOT have done it without you, your generous support and your prayers.
Gratefully yours,
Torchgrab Ministries and Aggie’s Baby Home

A new friend of ABH wanted to get involved and decided to do a diaper drive to help us with one of our biggest needs at the baby home – DIAPERS! After contacting several cloth diaper companies, enough diapers have been donated to keep our babies dry and happy for years to come! A special thank you to Gen-Y Diapers (www.gen-ydiapers.com) and Nicki’s Diapers (www.nickisdiapers.com)!
If you would like to donate a diaper to Aggie’s Baby Home go to: http://gen-ydiapers.com/shop/outlet/diaperdrive/#30

Everyone knows that cleaning cloth diapers is a big chore. Thanks to Rockin’ Green Cloth Diaper and Laundry Detergent Company, Aggie’s Baby Home now has just the right product to help them with this task. Hundreds of pounds were donated and are on their way to ABH! Bio-degradable and eco-friendly, these naturally scented detergents will keep the new cloth diapers and diaper shells in ship-shape. Thanks Rockin’ Green! (www.rockingreensoap.com)

Another big thank-you to our new friends and partner – Family by Faith Ministries of Georgia (www.familybyfaith.org) for their generous donation of $1,000 and commitment for on-going support. As we increase in the number or babies we save – our budget grows too and we are grateful for this new friend.

Aggie’s Baby Home is an AWARD recipient of First Congregational Church, United Church of Christ’s (Colorado Springs, CO) Missions Giving and Outreach Award/Gift of 2010-11! Thank YOU! As we are still in the building phase; we hope to add a laundry room, out-door play area and a guest-house soon…thanks to FCC we are one step closer our next big project.

During 2010, several adoptive families and their friends visited the baby home. They painted the fence, cleaned and helped our “mothers” by spending time playing, caring for and loving the babies. Thank you!
